Managing Partner & Chief Investment Officer
Kelvin is the founder, CEO and Chief Investment Officer of Origin Capital Management Pte Ltd, responsible for the overall investment strategy and direction of the firm. Managing the firm’s entire investment transaction life-cycle from origination, to screening, negotiation and exits, he also chairs the investment committee(s) for funds managed by the firm.
Prior to Origin Capital, Kelvin co-founded a corporate VC firm, GTR Ventures, and served as its Chief Investment Officer, where he screened over 150 global start-ups specialised in trade and supply chain finance and closed 10 investment deals. One of them achieved an exit ROI of 400% over 18 months. He also raised S$0.75m from a Singapore government agency – Enterprise Singapore’s Trade Infrastructure Development Fund – to venture build specialised startups in SME and supply chain finance.
Formerly, Kelvin served as Deputy Director at the Ministry of Trade & Industry, where he led Singapore’s engagements with over 100 emerging markets. At the MAS, he served as Deputy Director, responsible for trade finance, where he deployed funding from MAS’ S$1billion FSDF fund, into a fintech investment. He also served as secretariat for the Singapore Capital Markets Committee, the Financial Centre Advisory Panel and was lead officer for the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. While at the IFC, as Senior Investment Officer, he closed a US$300m energy deal in Myanmar, and was responsible for origination in Southeast Asia.
Kelvin was awarded a Public Services Commission (PSC) Scholarship to read architecture in Paris; and has a Masters in real estate investments from the École nationale des ponts et chaussées, under the Eiffel scholarship from the French government. His other awards include:
